The Ulster man, a resident of the Town of Rochester, became the first person in county to test COVID-19 positive, it was announced on Sunday, March 8. He and a family member are both in mandatory isolation.
There have not been any confirmed coronavirus cases in Dutchess.
Seven other Dutchess residents were already in self-isolation for possible COVID-19 exposure prior to the Ulster man, who had recently traveled to France, testing positive.
“All Dutchess residents who may have had contact with the individual have been contacted and are being monitored by Department of Behavioral & Community Health,” Molinaro said. “This is in addition to several residents who were already under precautionary quarantine relating to travel status. None of the residents being monitored have exhibited any symptoms and we are grateful for their cooperation.”
